History | Environment | Organization | Administrative Plan | Services | Customer Service Center | Multi-function Service Counter | Perspectives   Environment         Tainan city is located on the southernmost part of the Chia-Nan Plain, is 50 kilometers from its southern neighbor, Kaohsiung, and adjoins both Yongkang and Rende of Tainan County to the east. The entire city covers 175.64 square kilometers and it is divided into six administrative districts: North, South, East, West Central, An-Ping, and An-Nan, of which the latter is the biggest, accounting for three-fifths of the city.       The total population of Tainan city was over 768,000 at the end of 2008.
